We’re all familiar with the phrase, “The best way to make a living is to make a life.” The same applies to the achievement hunting hockey league game, where players try to prove themselves to the world by finding and attaining goals.
The idea of the game is simple. Players hit the puck around a rink, shooting it from the corner of their net. They can win by shooting past the opposing team’s goalie or winning the puck in a shoot-out. If a player scores, they win a point for their team. So far so good.
The game is played on a hockey rink with rules that are pretty much the same as the NHL game. A shooter has 3 seconds to score a goal, 3 seconds to score a point, and 7 seconds to make a save. So far so good.
The catch is that the shooting and goaltending are both randomized. Each goal-scoring player gets a chance to shoot the puck before the next one does, but the goalie’s time starts running out after every shot.
Of course, in order for this to be fun, the shooter has to score. There are no penalties for making a goal, so the net is pretty open. And since we’re on the topic of hockey, we can’t help but wonder if there’s a rule against score-and-goals, too.
We can’t help but point out that the rule is for the goalies, not the shooter. There are no exceptions and no penalties for making a bad goal. But what’s really cool is that there are no goals for the goalie, just for the shooter. The rule is broken every time. A goalie must score at the end of regulation. After any overtime, that’s it.
That is why we were a little disappointed when the goalie scored during overtime. It wasn’t until about a minute or two into overtime that we realized that the goalie just scored and that it was a goal. We all yelled “Goal” at the top of our lungs and then all screamed, “Goal!” at the same time like we were watching a movie. It was very satisfying.
The best part of the game? Making the goalie score a goal. This is what we love most about hockey. We all love it so much that when we were kids we played on the same hockey team and thought it was the greatest sport ever.
We’re not huge hockey fans, but when we do watch the game, we always try to watch it in slow motion to see the goalie score. We also like to pretend that we are on a goal-scoring team and that we are the goalie. As a result, we have a lot of goals to cheer for in every game. So this is the goal we are shouting at the top of our lungs when a goal is scored.
Well today marks two hockey games in which the goal is scored. It’s a very sad state of affairs when the goal is scored and the goalie doesn’t score, but it happens. So here’s to you, hockey fans. We have a new goal for you. Now, I know this is a pretty big goal, so I want to make it even weirder. We have a new goal that we can’t wait to see.
