This year marks the 10th season of the Western Michigan University hockey team. This season marks the 9th season of the MIAC hockey conference. The Wolverines have won the conference for the last 10 years and have won the conference in all but one season since. This year, the team is led by former Michigan Wolverine, Tom McCollum. This season, the team is coached by Mike Matuszak, who was an assistant coach at Michigan prior to the start of the 2010 season.
For a Michigan team that has been to the NCAA final five in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013, this is a surprising and impressive achievement. It’s no surprise because this is really the second best team in the MIAC, and it’s a far cry from the last year’s team, which lost to Michigan State 3-0 in the conference finals. It’s also a testament to the strength of the MIAC, which has been a powerhouse for several years now.
This is a good time for fans to point out that the team has been the second-most effective offense in the last two years and that Michigan’s defense has been second-most effective. When teams like Michigan play, they go on a run. When Michigan plays it is far more about offense and defense.
MIAC is also the team that has shown a lot of growth and has shown improvement from the last few years, which is a good thing. The defense has been one of the best in the conference, and the offense has been good enough to lead the conference in scoring. So while we can’t say that MIAC’s defense is the best in the conference, it’s at least one of the best.
MIAC is so good because of the depth that they can bring in, the top players, and the depth in the front office. The team is loaded with talent and has more depth than some other teams in the conference.
I know that the league is loaded with talented players, and that the team is loaded with talent, but one can only play so many games and one can only see so much. The MIACs defense has been a force to be reckoned with in conference play, and the offense has been a force to be reckoned with in conference play, so even if it is not the best division in the conference, it is at least a lot better than most.
The new Michigan hockey roster is just a fraction of what it was last year. One of the biggest improvements has been the addition of three freshmen. With four underclassmen and the added depth of an offense, it could be that this team is ready to make a run for the conference title next year.
So, we have a team that’s going to be a lot better in conference play. The key is going to be how they do it, because Michigan’s offense is still somewhat weak. Last year’s offense was led by a freshman who came to school with no experience in the NCAA or NHL, so he had no idea what to do with his new team. His freshman year was a disaster for Michigan, with no offense, no scoring, and a bad attitude.
Last season the team had a new coach, and a new kid on the team, and he didn’t help the offense either. Michigan went 3-21-1.
the offense was at full strength this year, and was led by a kid with a lot of hockey experience. He was the best player on the team. In the last two years, the team has a freshman with no experience in hockey, and a new coach, and the offense has been awful. We’re still 5-19-1.
